We know that industrial cookies from the supermarket are not a healthy option, despite what the TV ads say. Luckily you can make homemade cookies without sugar and with healthy ingredients such as oatmeal and apple cookies or oatmeal with orange cookies . But the ones that have had the most success on social networks are the oatmeal and banana ones .

We have tried several recipes and this is without a doubt the one we liked the most, it also has chocolate chips and instead of using only oat flour, it also adds almond flour (ground almonds) which gives it a delicious touch. You can also replace the chocolate chips with pieces of nuts or raisins if you want them even healthier.

They do not contain sugar because the sweetness of the bananas is enough, however, they have to be very ripe for them to turn out well.

Preparation of oatmeal, chocolate and banana cookies

  1. Preheat the oven to 180º C with heat up and down.
  2. We peel and chop the bananas. We mash them with a fork until we get a slurry. We add the ground almonds, vanilla and salt. We mix well and also add the oat flakes. We mix again until they are well integrated into the porridge.
  3. Add the chocolate chips and mix well. We reserve some seeds to decorate.
  4. We put a sheet of greaseproof paper on the oven tray. With portions of dough we shape cookies and leave them on the paper. We can help ourselves with our hands and a spoon. We just decorated with some extra chocolate chips to make them look prettier.

Baking and presentation of cookies

  1. Bake for 20-25 minutes in the middle tray at 180º C with heat up and down. Each oven is different and can be 5 minutes up or down.
  2. We are waiting until we see that they are slightly golden. If we see that they are browning excessively on the sides, we put a little aluminum foil. Or directly those last minutes of baking. We remove the cookies from the tray and transfer them to a rack where we leave them until they cool completely.

Tips for perfect oatmeal and banana cookies

  • These cookies do not hold up very well over time, so it is better not to make large quantities if there are only a few of us. With the quantities we propose, 12-15 cookies come out, depending on the size.
  • Bananas have a lot of prominence and give the most important flavor, so it is important that they are of quality and are well ripe to provide sweetness.
  • The cookies do not swell in the oven, so if we want to make more, there is no need to leave space between them on the oven tray.
